Nichamon "Bitoey" Yakabin, a Chulalongkorn University graduate and Narathiwat native. I'm a graphic/textile pattern designer, children's art instructor, freelance artist, and small business owner. Inspired by nature's beauty, my work often features floral motifs that aim to bring joy and alleviate stress. I expand these illustrations into surface pattern designs for everyday objects, creating immersive art experiences. I also explore video motion graphics, inspired by Naive art, to bring a fun, stress-relieving dimension to my work. My ultimate goal is to share happiness through art. On the loop, 2024 Inspired by education experiences of students in the southern region, this work explores the ongoing circulation of students seeking higher education in cities with better resources. It questions why, despite the desire to bring knowledge back to their hometowns, the flow towards big cities persists. The installation, made of reflective materials like clear acrylic, stainless steel, and ceramic, encourages self-reflection on the problem. It features floral patterns from the five southern provinces, blooming along unequal circles, symbolizing individual differences and the varying starting points in life. However, the use of ceramic works of the same size hints at the ideal of equal education for all. The installation also incorporates green, yellow, and red acrylic, referencing traffic lights, to prompt contemplation on how to address the issue: should we change, pause, solve, or move on.
