We invite you to look beyond the surface of tattoo art. This exhibition is born from the heart of BORANTATTOOSTUDIO., a small tattoo studio tucked into the historic old town of Songkhla. We believe that art doesn’t have to be separated from tradition — and that tattoo artists are artists in their own right, with stories, roots, and identities worth sharing. “Ink & Identity” is a space where tattoo artists from across Thailand come together to reveal who they are through two forms of expression: the tattoos they’ve etched into living skin, and the artworks they’ve created on canvas, paper, or other non-living surfaces. These two mediums hold different freedoms — and different limitations. Some tattoo designs can’t quite be translated onto canvas. Some brushstrokes on paper would never work on skin. But that contrast is exactly where the beauty lies. When placed side by side, these works begin a dialogue between identity and expression, tradition and experimentation, control and freedom. Each artist in this exhibition brings not just technical skill, but also local culture, personal emotion, and an honest piece of themselves. Through their ink and through their art, they’re telling us who they are. We hope this exhibition opens up a new way of seeing tattoo art not just as decoration, but as a language, and a powerful way to share identity through skin, surface, and soul.
