Tam RICE – Tam-Hrai? A Question About Rice, A Story About Place “Tam RICE – Tam-Hrai?” plays on a familiar Southern Thai greeting meaning “What are you doing?” A simple phrase, yet one that quietly holds the power of questioning. This exhibition uses that casual question as a starting point to invite us to rethink rice, the most basic of human foods, yet something so familiar that we often forget the deeper meanings embedded in every grain. Throughout the festival we invite celebrated vendors from Phatthalung and Songkhla to co-create “Tam RICE Café.” Visitors can sample Sang Yod–rice ice cream from Lyn’s The Shanghai Café (Songkhla), French toast and other baked goods made with Thai-rice yeast from Lob-Rern Café (Phatthalung), and snacks featuring Sang Yod granola by Granora (Phatthalung). The pop-up proves that Thai rice can be reinvented into endlessly innovative contemporary desserts.
